I can be seduced. There is a new pull in my life – colour from a different perspective – glass and light. If I took the time to learn how, it could be bad! So I won’t learn how, but I think that I will be adding more colour and light to my rooms in the future!
We are renovating the bathroom. Actually someone is doing it for us. And it is taking a while, but we are starting to see results, and it is looking good.
I want some stained glass for the window. Which is a large new one. It has an opaque bottom pane and a clear top pane. So I went to a studio called Cheeky Monkey Glassworks, and I fell in love, with colour, all over again, and from a whole new angle.
I am putting large Poppies in the upper corners of the window. I got to pick my glass for each section. I fell in love. I could have chosen every colour and been happy, but I had to narrow it down. I think that I will have to have more stained glass.
I already have a large window, from about 30 years ago. It was designed by me and made by a friend. We bartered. I knit her four sweaters and she made the window for this big old frame that I had. I filled the glass window with all the things that I missed about the West Coast; mountains, water, scenery, moon and clouds and a few pansies top and bottom to help fill the space. The lay-out was highly influenced by Alphonse Mucha – I was in my early twenties after all!
I got the better of the deal. The knitting took more time than the glass work but the window will survive a very long time, as long as it is never dropped!
Back to the black! And to dream of colour, and light!
