It’s Raining! – What a Surprise!

Rain on the Lower Lake in the Park

We just came back from an invigorating walk around the Colliery Dam Park.  It was raining – it still is raining.  But the temperature is mild and the Sun is still trying to break through the clouds, in other words, a traditional Fall day on the West Coast!

I wore a ball cap and rain coat.  I removed the ball cap to cover the camera and I got a little wet, but the camera stayed dry!  Next time I will take two ball caps!

Maple leaves are falling and covering every surface, including a bridge over a very loudly burbling stream – there has been a lot of rain this week!

There are many Maple Trees in the Park and the leaves were falling everywhere.  I felt like a child again as I watched the leaves fall to the floor of the forest and cover the paths and trees around me.

The rain was heavy enough to move through the trees and find the water below the closely packed branches.

We followed Sophie through the underbrush at times – the branches hung low and wet; I laughed as the water dripped down the back of my neck and made me shiver.  It was a wondrous kind of morning.

“The Branches hung low and wet”

The city is talking about removing the dams next year and draining the lakes.  “The Dams are old and unsafe”;  I hope that this doesn’t happen – a wondrous place enjoyed by many people over the years will be changed irrevocably!

Happy Walking
