We just came back from an invigorating walk around the Colliery Dam Park. It was raining – it still is raining. But the temperature is mild and the Sun is still trying to break through the clouds, in other words, a traditional Fall day on the West Coast!
I wore a ball cap and rain coat. I removed the ball cap to cover the camera and I got a little wet, but the camera stayed dry! Next time I will take two ball caps!
There are many Maple Trees in the Park and the leaves were falling everywhere. I felt like a child again as I watched the leaves fall to the floor of the forest and cover the paths and trees around me.
We followed Sophie through the underbrush at times – the branches hung low and wet; I laughed as the water dripped down the back of my neck and made me shiver. It was a wondrous kind of morning.
The city is talking about removing the dams next year and draining the lakes. “The Dams are old and unsafe”; I hope that this doesn’t happen – a wondrous place enjoyed by many people over the years will be changed irrevocably!
