Sunday afternoon we went on a photo shoot! Right back to Piper’s Lagoon. The we – Tamera, Fiona and Myself – I had a few items finished and wanted some good photographs for patterns and the etc’s of life.
We were lucky! It was still windy, but the rain had eased off just enough to take pictures! They turned out great! Tamera, was a trooper, standing around in the cold with only a couple of light sweaters on – but the hot chocolate helped – chocolate anything helps!
I finished Purple “Wrap”sody! It fits, looks the way I wanted it to, and is warm and toasty. The only thing left to do is knit a belt, until then the grey woven one will work. The belt may wait a very long time! LOL!!
In between pictures of Tamera in the knits I took a few more pictures of the waters pounding up on the beach. The tide was on the way out and you could see beach, unlike the morning!
The shawls in the sideshow are two new patterns that I am working on. The red shawl (it is really pink in real life) will be for a spring class and the brown shawl is a Shetland lace pattern that I have been working on, bit by bit for a the last year or so. Too many distractions along the way!
I saw Joan this week. Joan is the silversmith who was turning the button I found into a brooch. As usual she had done a stellar job! I think that it is gorgeous!
I have already worn it once and will wear it a lot I think – it seems to go with anything!
I have started a new project. It will be a long-term project I think. I want to create a cabled, painted coat. I have the yarn, 18, now 16 balls of Rowan Purelife British Sheepbreeds Organic Chunky in the Bluefaced Leicester, which is a natural white. I used the two balls to create a swatch for practicing the painting.
I made a swatch hat a la Elizabeth Zimmermann. I am going to write the pattern for it as well – it is too cute not to write-up! This weekend I am going to try painting it. I need to see how the yarn will take the dyes and how the cables will work with the hand-painting before I start the coat. If I don’t like the way it paints I may have to look for a different yarn. I love this yarn, it feels so great – I can’t imagine that it won’t paint up beautifully!
As normal I have many other projects underway as well! Life is busy.
