Painting the Princess!

Princess back together and all painted up!

Sunday morning after our walk – I painted the Princess!  Last night I put it back together!  This weekend Tamera and I will take some more pictures!  Such is the life of a princess!

The princess is a very large swatch for a possible painted coat that I am contemplating.  Painting cables might be a little bit too busy for a whole coat.  I will have to think on it!

I love your painted shawls, but I’m somehow not quite sure this works. Maybe it’s because I’m too used to seeing the classic cream Aran cables. Or maybe it’s because I liked the hat so much before it was painted. Or maybe less is more: looking through again I quite like the purple background to the bobbles and maybe the narrow outline to the central cable before the grey bled into the surrounding or whatever happened between the first pic of that and the final result, possibly with the blue bobbles in there, but I prefer the big bobbles left in cream. Not convinced about the red. And the stripes on the ribbing I preferred alternate grey and left cream without the red and blue bits. Or maybe more is more: I might prefer it all painted red blue and purple with no cream left at all! But that’s just my taste 🙂 it’s an interesting idea.

    • Thank-you very much for your comment. This project was a fact finding mission. And I agree with most of what you said.

I was trying to see what dyes went with each other and to see how the colours would affect the cable patterns.

Right now I am thinking that when I knit the coat, that if I do paint it will be limited to the yoke only and maybe only with one colur.

I may knit the coat and not paint it at all! I will be reknitting the toque I think – like you I loved it plain!

      Happy Knitting
