My First Pattern Release of 2013….

Espresso Shawl at Piper's Lagoon!

Espresso Shawl at Piper’s Lagoon!

……Espresso Shawl, Was Actually knit in 2011.  It was a sample from the Shetland Lace Retreat that I never quite got to writing out as a pattern at the time.  There is still another pattern or two to write from the same retreat.  Time….. there never seems to be enough!  Ideas…… always too many!

Photo shoot day at Piper's Lagoon - the waves were booming as they hit the shoreline.

I have been working on the pattern, off and on, for the last two years.  I really sat down in the last couple of months and persevered.  I love the yarn, the pattern and the shawl, but I was having issues with the pictures; they were the real stumbling block.

Now you can see the pattern.

Now you can see the pattern.

I could not find a picture that I thought did the shawl justice.  Some were too dark, the details did not show; some were too artsy, great photos, but not of the shawl; the colour of the yarn and the drape did not come through; I wanted something more; nothing in the pictures I had taken so far – three different photo sessions!  Gave me the results I wanted.

After finishing off the pattern – and including pictures from all three sessions – I decided that maybe I was being too picky.  Several others confirmed that particular observation; friends are great barometers – they always level things out!

Happy Knitting

About letissierdesigns

I am an independent knitting pattern designer. My favourite things to design are accessories. Hats, Cowls, Mittens, Gloves, all styles and many weights! Designing anything with lace is my passion. Combining lace with other textures is usually my goal, to add interest and depth to the articles created. Blog - Of Larks and Linnets and Flying Fingers. Facebook - LeTissier Designs Instagram - letissierdesigns I work primarily with natural fibres and love to embellish my patterns. I work to create interesting surface textures with differing stitch patterns and often embellish with beads or buttons. I have designed for Buffalo Wool Co, Vogue Knitting, Zealana, Malabrigo and others. But mostly I design for myself and my LYS. I have worked full time at Mad About Ewe Fine Yarns for over 20 years and started my design process as a method of creating patterns that featured teachable knitting techniques. Everything has grown from those patterns.
