The Skies yesterday evening at around 8:15 pm were incredible.
Even on the way home the sky was different. At about 5:45 as we passed by Departure Bay Beach I could see the storm clouds gathering over Vancouver and Georgia Straight. The clouds were glowing grey in the lowering sun and the air was vibrant with “Storm Light” – that odd green glow that can happen before a storm hits. I wish that I had had my camera with me.
The mountains on the mainland were etched out in grey and the water and sky were glowing blue and grey. Departure Bay was perfectly calm and mirror like – something was about to happen.
And happen it did – but in Vancouver.
The storms ended in Vancouver at about 8:00 pm. That was about when the light show began here. I have to believe that there is some relationship between the big storm in Vancouver and the sunset here – I have never seen such an intensely coral pink and orange sunset here!
The wind was blowing the trees and branches wildly as the sun was going down – the contrasts of light and shadow were incredible. The pictures were taken from my back porch into the neighbourhood trees. If only I had been at a viewpoint. I think that the colours will go into a painted shawl one day – Incredible.
Have a great Day
