Sunday morning’s walk at Linley Valley was Glorious. Monday morning’s walk at Beach Estates Park was Grey. But the walking was Great both Mornings.
There is never enough time in the day to stop and appreciate everything around us. But I do try on the weekend walks to appreciate and note the small moments and grace notes that do surround me.
As we work our way through the week it is the small things that both sustain and irritate us.
Have you noticed? The big things we seem to take in stride, but it is the small irritations that build up until they become the “big” thing! We all have something that will drive us crazy – luckily it is not the same thing for all of us!
I try to ignore the small irritations and focus on the small grace notes of life. A smile; an unexpected kindness or act of courtesy; a bird singing in the tree outside; a colourful sunrise or sunset. All of these things sustain and carry me through the day. Do you have something small and quiet that you note and appreciate? Something that carries you over the minor irritations of life?
Knitting keeps me sane as well. Knitting has carried me through some of the worst and best moments of my life. Keeping my emotions hidden in the stitches as my tension tightens and loosens through all that goes on around me.
Knitting is my everyday Grace.
